Like so many cities around the world, Boston has been severely affected by the Covid-19 crisis. As a global firm headquartered in the city, Advent is proud to support those who are helping the most vulnerable members of our community.

Charities backed in Massachusettes
Prior to the outbreak of the pandemic, we formed the Boston Philanthropy Committee to coordinate our charitable work in the community. As the most immediate need is coronavirus related, the Committee decided to make donations to organizations providing immediate relief to healthcare workers, hospitals, the homeless community, restaurant workers and those suffering food scarcity. Based on these criteria, we have chosen the following charity partners, as well as making direct donations to five local hospitals.
Massachusetts Covid-19 Relief Fund
The Massachusetts Covid-19 Relief Fund acts as a focal point for initiatives across Massachusetts to support the most vulnerable in our communities.
United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley and its Covid-19 Family Support Fund
The United Way’s Covid-19 Family Support Fund is helping hourly, low-wage workers weather the losses from the pandemic.
The Boston Resiliency Fund
The Boston Resiliency Fund is the City of Boston’s formal effort to help coordinate fundraising and philanthropic efforts for residents. It will help provide food security for those in need, educational tools and support for healthcare workers at the frontline.
Greater Boston Food Bank
The Greater Boston Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the U.S. It will continue its crucial role during this time of heightened need for Boston’s most at risk populations.
Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program
The Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) provides integrated healthcare to a homeless population of more than 11,000 across Boston. As this pandemic grows, the BHCHP will incur significant financial losses, upwards of $1M/month, as it continues to combat Covid-19.
Off Their Plate/World Central Kitchen
In collaboration with our colleagues in New York, we have also committed to Off Their Plate, a charity that creates work at a network of local restaurants who in turn make meals to feed frontline healthcare professionals. For every $100 donated, 10 meals are sent to frontline healthcare workers and three shift hours are restored at restaurants.
Pine Street Inn’s Covid-19 Emergency Services Fund
The Pine Street Inn’s Covid-19 Emergency Services Fund is designed to support actions being taken by New England’s largest homeless services provider to keep its staff, guests and tenants safe.
Boston Rescue Mission
The Boston Rescue Mission is committed to transforming and empowering people at risk of becoming homeless, experiencing homelessness and substance abuse disorder.
Newton Food Pantry
The Newton Food Pantry provides nutritionally-balanced free food and personal care products to approximately 750 Newton residents each month.
The Boston office has also pledged to support the following hospitals: Boston Medical Center, The Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation, Holyoke Medical Center, Lowell General Hospital, South Shore Health and UMass Memorial Health Care.
These donations are being made from Advent’s $25 million Global Relief Fund and follow a $570,000 donation made in late March by the firm’s Boston employees to the Boston Resiliency Fund and Boston Medical Center’s Emergency Social Services Fund.
